Using an emotive film as stimulus, teachers have the opportunity to reflect on their own teaching strategies when working with children at risk who may display challenging behaviours in class and to make the link with research evidence by identifying effective strategies which promote resilience, attachment and engagement.
Teachers will engage empathetically with the daily realities for many children children at risk or in out-of-home care. The course provides teachers with the opportunity to debrief online with other colleagues about their responses to the film and how understanding more about the background of a student might change their teaching strategies when working with children displaying challenging behaviours in class.
