Designing Learning Resources To Reduce Cognitive Load in Mathematics

Explore how Sweller’s on Cognitive Load Theory can help you design mathematics resources to make learning easier for your students to understand new mathematical concepts. In this course we will look at how the brain processes new information in the subject of Mathematics and provide some practical strategies for teachers who want to challenge their students towards deep understanding in Mathematics by creating resources such as worksheets and digital materials that improve the way student’s brains process new information. You will learn some tricks to help make learning difficult mathematics concepts feel easy for your students.

In this five hour course you will have opportunities to collaborate with your colleagues around the world online using a discussion forum, learn to create or source evidence based worksheets and resources and  share your resources with other teachers around the world. You will have 12 months access to the course and resources via your login following completion of the course.
